    Morro Bay National Estuary

    This National Estuary's resources focus on the conservation and prevention of habitat loss and accelerated sedimentation in the bay. Two dozen types of endangered species can be seen here, as well as great views of nature. A volunteer monitoring program is extended to those wanting to be involved.

    Sweet Springs Nature Reserve
    Preservation of this area that has several threatened and endangered species is maintained by the Morro Coast Audubon Society. Trails lead along Monterey cypress and eucalyptus to freshwater ponds and a salt marsh. Many birds and butterflies are attracted to this area.
