Constructed in 1827, Stearns Wharf was built on what was then the longest deep-water pier between Los Angeles and San Francisco. It served the freight and passenger shipping needs of the area for over a quarter of a century, and over the years slowly was turned into a tourist attraction. The first restaurant was built here in 1941, and many more have followed over the years.
