McGrath State Beach is a bird-watching area featuring sand dunes and lush riverbanks. Swimming could be dangerous because of the strong currents. Campgrounds are located on-site.

Located on five of the eight islands, the park consists of 249,353 acres, with over 2,000 plant and animal species. Some of the activities you can enjoy are scuba diving, kayaking, hiking, picnicing, whale and bird watching, and exploring the tide pools. Visitor's center is closed Thanksgiving and Christmas.
