Welcome to Oxnard!
Located on
California's Central
Coast, Oxnard attracts visitors with its sandy beaches, historic beauty, outdoor
opportunities and, of course, its close proximity to the
Channel
Islands National Park. The park is just 11 mi (18 km) from Oxnard's shores,
and with over 2,000 species of plants and animals, an educational visitor center,
interpretive programs and stunning wildflower displays in the winter and spring,
the attraction is not to be missed. Although Oxnard retains the charm of a small
town, the city has plenty of activities for visitors. Relax on 7 mi (11 km) of
beaches, sample fresh seafood at local restaurants, learn about maritime history
at the
Ventura
County Maritime Museum or tour the historic buildings at
Heritage
Square. The harbor area, located just 2 mi (3 km) outside of downtown, plays
host to a range of outdoor pursuits, from kayaking to fishing to scuba diving.
The city's cultural hub is the
Oxnard
Performing Arts & Convention Center, which offers musicals, plays, concerts
and seasonal events.
