At Heath Ranch Park are remnants of a historic two-story home that once belonged to one of Carpinteria's prominent settlers, Russell Heath. His occupations varied from state legislator to district attorney and walnut farmer.
One of the hidden escapes in Carpinteria is Tar Pits Park. This park does not have facilities, but it boasts a rich wild life, a beach, walking trails and lush vegetation. Visitors can sometimes see seals and dolphins in the water and the birds are usually numerous and varied.
This park includes a baseball court and playground activities for children. Facilities feature picnic tables, grills, restrooms and parking lots.
Toro Canyon Park is a heavily-wooded park with numerous facilities for small and large groups. There are playgrounds for children as well as hiking trails and parking areas. Visitors can enjoy a stream running through the middle of this park.

Carpinteria State Beach is located 12 mi (19 km) from Santa Barbara, and features seals, sea lions and gray whales. The beach has picnic areas, restrooms and a visitor center.
